Food and Drink
When it comes to food and drink our objective is to offer the best traditional pub dishes alongside the best of modern British cuisine. Sourced locally and to organic or free range standards where possible, our menus feature all that is best and seasonal in the Cotswolds. All our suppliers are within a 25 mile radius of The Horse Guards.
Our menus change with the seasons, although some dishes may change more frequently. With lunch and evening menu options, we aim to offer the variety and quality in 'home cooking' discerning customers are increasingly looking for. Our Sunday roast lunches offer an additional opportunity for our customers to enjoy a true taste of the Cotswolds.
independent and individual
Our approach to real ales (well, after all we are proud to call ourselves a pub) is similarly uncompromising. You won't find a nationally distributed beer at The Horse Guards but you will get more of a true taste of the Cotswolds when sampling the quality of our locally brewed ales and ciders. What we do stock in rotation is a range of real ales such as Uley Bitter (4.0% abv) and Old Spot (5.0% abv) from the Uley Brewery, Farmer's Best (3.6% abv) from the Ramsbury Brewery and others such as Habit (4.2% abv) from the Flying Monk Brewery, Cotswold Way (4.2% abv) from from the Wickwar Wessex Brewery and Hooky (3.5%abv) from the Hook Norton Brewery. Our craft brewers do not compromise on quality and we do our best to reflect that principle in all we do.
Our wine list reflects the lack of vineyards in the Cotswolds but is nevertheless packed with the best in taste, quality and value international wineries have to offer. Our wine merchant, Simon Thomson of Talking Wines, Cirencester, has an equally uncompromising attitude when it comes to quality wines.
Whether it is a light lunch or evening meal, a pint or a glass of wine over a good old gossip, The Horse Guards has something to offer everyone. Our food and drink reflect our emphasis on relaxed and informal dining without compromising our commitment to quality and value.
"The Horse Guards has it all - excellent food, talented chefs, wonderful ale, comfortable guest rooms, and a warm welcome at all times."
